I currently run Commoncog. Commoncog asks two questions: a) what is business expertise? b) what do we know about accelerating it? Previously I ran content marketing for Holistics and doubled their ARR over the course of 2021. Before that I ran the Vietnam side of Floating Cube Studios, a Singaporean company with offices in Singapore and Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. I was there from 2014-2017, and oversaw our pivot from consulting to products (see: epos.com) I helped bootstrap the company to 4.5M in annual revenue, and then trained my replacements before leaving. In the past, I worked pretty heavily in digital publishing. I launched Novelr.com in 2006 and co-founded a publishing startup, Pandamian, in 2010. I helped create Web Fiction Guide in 2008.(Some of my thoughts on the space and previous work may be found in this talk I gave at the Internet Archive in 2011: ) Whilst at NUS, I was president of the NUS Hackers, a student interest group dedicated to growing the (then) non-existent hacker community on campus. I was responsible for the club's org design, created its structure, and started many of the club's activities, including Singapore's largest student hackathon. NUS Hackers is now an integral part of the School of Computing's culture - a good portion of large company recruiting go through our members.
