About Cees Bastiaansen

After a long career as a lecturer in higher education, I picked up (since 2016) my previous profession in which I was engaged in shortly after my graduation at Wageningen University (Irrigation, drainage and hydraulic engineering, agro-hydrology). At that time I spend almost 12 years in Africa (Mali, Senegal and Zambia) and I worked mainly on irrigation and drainage design and water management. But this time, I will not be established permanently abroad but like to do short missions/visits to support and to advise small enterprises and/or groups of small farmers or local governments and ngo's with regard to their challenges in water management. Recently I visited Ethiopia (three visit 2015-2016), twice Malawi (2016/2017), Guinea (three times, 2017 and 2018), Ghana (2017), Bangladesh (2019) and Mali (2019). Now I am searching still for more opportunities to extend this activity for which I am available for periods of up to one month maximum per mission/visit to most countries in Africa, Central and South America and/or Asia. My expertise lies within the field of irrigated Agriculture (micro -irrigation). Next to give advises, I can do also project evaluations and project formulations. With my work experience during the last 20 years, I have gained also expertise in the field of environmental design/engineering /problems.
