About Celeste van Kastel

At first glance, my interests and experiences seem to be completely different. However, human health, animal welfare and sustainability are the three pillars in my life I am passionate about that are all interconnected: one can not exist without the other, not in the long run anyway. As a projectleader sustainability and climate for a mental health institution I wish to contribute to better human health and, eventually, a better planet. A healing environment and our intrinsic drive to be in nature as a healing, calming component is perfectly complimented by my work as a politician. As a civic counselor for party for the animals I fight for those who do not have a voice, or whose voice is rarely heard. After all, how we treat our environment and how we treat animals is testament to how we treat eachother. A key component in my life is research and education. I have an affinity with research and education as I strongly believe that education and evidence-based research are incredibly important components when tackling societal issues like our treatment of minorities and other underrepresented in society, like animals and those with mental illnesses. That's also why I am always open to learning new things, and is my daily phrase:"every day is a school day". I am driven by my love for research, policy development and deeply rooted wish for fair treatment of all sentient beings. My multicultural sensitivity and experience in living, studying and working in several countries is a great asset to this.
