Celeste Maria Dias de Amorim Varum. Completed a PhD in Economics in 2002 from the University of Reading, a Master of Science in Economics and International Business in 1996 from the University of Reading, and BSc /Licenciatura - 5 year degree) in Economics on 1995 from the University of Évora. She holds Habilitation in Economics from the University of Aveiro (2020). Has published over 60 articles in specialized journals, several book chapter(s) and book(s). Her works cover issues related to the dynamics and competitiveness of regions and industries, manufacturing and tourism, with a particular focus on innovation, sustainability and internationalization. Has been supervisor of over 40 master students and also PhD and Post-Doc students. She his currently working with Galp on a vast project related to the building of an industrial district in what was previously a refinery. She has been special advisor for the State Secretary for Tourism (2019-2022) and previously advisor for the State Secretary for Industry (2018) of the Portuguese Ministry of Economy.
