About Celia Robie

The best part about English is experiencing how an author can immerse their reader into a life that was never theirs. The reader hears, sees, and experiences events in an imaginary world, yet we are able to listen, picture, and feel every detail. Literature is valuable because of this ability to share experiences. As an avid reader from age six to the present, going into publishing seemed like a no-brainer. Discovering creative authors and helping them design the doorway for their readers to walk through is still something I dream about. When I joined Rheem Manufacturing, I never imagined I would find the same creative process in an HVAC company's technical writing. As a technical writer, I am uniquely situated between the engineer (rather than the author) and the reader. My job is to immerse myself in the engineer's world and write a guide for the reader to step into that world. I can create literature that shares the knowledge of HVAC engineers with HVAC customers, so they feel as capable and knowledgeable about the products as one of Rheem's employees. In my current role, I have also had the privilege of intersecting with marketing literature, producing documents meant for customers who have different needs than technical literature addresses. Marketing literature paints a picture of each doorway available to the reader, allowing them to have a vision and make an informed choice before they pass over the doorstep. Every piece of literature is exciting: it is a living, changing, always-improving doorway. Literature has the power to connect people.
