About Celia Wrighton

I teach English Literature and public speaking to A Level in the British education system…and I am making the time to write more fiction and non-fiction after finishing the early part of my teaching career. Previously, I had a successful and extremely enjoyable career as an event host/MC and musical comedian for 7 years and, at the same time, was a presentation skills coach and speechwriter for over a decade, and before that I was a professional actor for five years, totalling an impressive 25 years of self employment. Surviving (and sometimes even thriving) through austerity, recessions, and credit crunches has been the challenge of my life and it took a global pandemic to make me finally hang up my sparkly dresses and call it a day. Still, I am proud that I coached many people through stage fright and into achieving great things in public speaking. I was a Fellow of the Professional Speaking Association and was awarded their Speaker of the Year award in 2018 for my speech on using humour in your speeches, called The Funny Thing About Speaking; I am co-author of The Exceptional MC, available on Amazon. In 2022, I recorded a song written by Jose Troitino, available on all music platforms, called: Train Just Left with Celia Delaney, and the cast album from my sell-out Edinburgh show in 2018, Till Death Us Do Part (The Secret Divorce Society) is still available on Apple Music!
