My job is to scout and raise DeepTech startups inside the world's most innovative research center! With over employees across 9 sites, including in Grenoble. More than 660 priority patents filed per year and 700 industrial partners (large corporations, SMEs, and mid-sized companies). Since 1972, the CEA has already created over 260 startups, about a hundred of which are in Grenoble. Our startups are doing well! 80% of them are still active after 10 years of existence, and they have raised over €1 billion in the last 15 years. The emergence of Deep Tech startups is strategic for the CEA. It is a way to leverage the research work carried out within our laboratories and on our platforms. Since 1972, we have been creating DeepTech startups across all of the CEA's fields of application, whether in medical, defense, microelectronics, energy, AI, etc. To achieve this, we have three programs dedicated to the emergence and support of these future gems: i) The Magellan program, which is open to all CEA employees, but not only. We are often looking for external project leaders. ii) A program for external startups—all startups that have existed for less than 5 years and need to strengthen their technology. And finally, we work with startup studios, whether they are dedicated to microelectronics or innovative nuclear technology.
