I am Celsiya, Data Scientist at Verian on the Population Studies Data Team. My journey into data science began with a profound realisation during an online course: the power of numbers to tell a story. A lesson on data visualisation revealed how a single plot can uncover valuable insights and guide more informed decisions, sparking my interest in solving real-world problems with data. This fascination led me to pursue a Postgraduate Diploma and a Master’s degree in Data Science, where I honed my programming skills in Python, R, SQL, and Tableau, alongside techniques such as machine learning, deep learning, NLP, and AI. As a Data Scientist at Verian Group, I automate survey data workflows using Python, R, and Databricks, support the transition from SPSS to open-source tools, and develop AI-powered text processing tools. I collaborate with research teams and data engineers to streamline processes, enhance efficiency, and ensure data quality. My role also involves data cleaning, visualisation, report generation, and statistical analysis, transforming raw data into actionable insights that drive informed decisions. I am passionate about using data to uncover insights, tell meaningful stories, and contribute to decisions that shape the future.
