About Celso Sekiguchi

Actually involved in a partnership with NewFields Brasil, developing ESG related projects, I also worked as a Social Science Specialist at AECOM do Brasil, as a consultant for mining and other industrial projects aimed at improving conditions for affected communities. Prior to that, I worked at other sustainability consultancies, such as Ramboll, ERM, and Ecosorb. Additionally, I addressed Social Responsibility issues for companies such as Petrobras and International Paper. Since 2019, I played a role as a netweaver, supporting initiatives like UniDiversity of "Kebradas"(communities from the peripheries of large and small cities). Before, I was involved in other educational initiatives such as "the tribe. nova educação" and contributed to the creation of "apprenticeship communities," connecting innovative education projects (e.g, Projeto Âncora in Cotia/SP or Instituto Singularidades) with community experiences in São Paulo peripheries, including Instituto Nova União da Arte in the Eastern region, Instituto Favela da Paz, and the CPCD's and Ibeac's projects in Parelheiros, in the Southern region of São Paulo municipality. With a B.Sc. degree in Economics and an M.Sc. in Sociology, I have over 15 years of experience as a Social Responsibility and Sustainability Consultant. I have also actively participated in initiatives related to social and community entrepreneurship, solidary economics/social currencies (collaborating with entities like Solano Trindade Popular Agency, Community Bank União Sampaio, Itsnoon/ Eletrocooperativa, among others), and Democratic Education movements and projects. Moreover, I am engaged in promoting initiatives and participating in collaborative projects that are developed in netweaving/netliving ways. These projects involve different stakeholders, institutions, and social sectors, aiming to provide concrete tools, methodologies, and social technologies for sustainable regional/local development. This collaboration extends beyond environmental NGOs (such as Institutos Ecoar and Super Eco, and Projeto Papel de Gente, Instituto Pharos, among others) to include social businesses, entrepreneurial networks, and initiatives like Impact Hub.
