Background
About Ceren A.
I recently completed an MSc in Psychology of Mental Health (conversion) and have a BA in English Language & Literature, a combination that reflects my deep passion for understanding human behaviour and communication. My academic journey has been driven by a long-standing interest in people, their stories, and how different mediums, whether through literature, film, or psychology, help us make sense of the world around us. During my undergraduate studies, I explored the human narrative through literature, taking elective courses in Turkish Cinema and Plastic Arts. These experiences allowed me to develop skills in analysing and critiquing various forms of storytelling. I also delved into psychoanalytic literary criticism, which piqued my curiosity about human behaviour and psychological dynamics, ultimately leading me to pursue a career in mental health. For my MSc thesis, I conducted research on ‘Flourishing in Recent Graduates with Psychological Capital,’ where I applied statistical methods and IT skills to analyze data and create insightful reports. This project sharpened my analytical and research skills and deepened my understanding of how psychological factors impact personal and professional development. Currently, I work as an Advocacy Worker, where I am part of an outreach team focused on supporting individuals with mental health issues and substance misuse. My role involves building relationships within the community, conducting drop-ins, and providing information about rights and available options. I work closely with service users to represent them in meetings and hearings, always with a focus on empowering them to make informed decisions. Throughout my career and studies, I have honed strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a particular emphasis on active listening, empathy, and problem-solving. I thrive in collaborative environments and am always eager to learn and adapt. I am also passionate about self-improvement, often seeking feedback to ensure I am growing both personally and professionally. I enjoy writing short stories and have a keen interest in languages, constantly seeking ways to expand my linguistic skills and deepen my understanding of different cultures. I am now looking to transition into roles where I can apply my background in mental health and project coordination, particularly in sectors focused on sustainability, community-driven initiatives, defence and security. I am excited to bring my skills, enthusiasm, and passion for making a positive impact to new challenges and overall to the world.
