A seasoned and versatile Process / Process Safety / Facilities Engineer with over 25 years of experience in the oil and gas industry in Canada, U.S. and Colombia. Leverages skills include design engineering, oil refining, process safety, and operations of petrochemical, heavy oil & gas units. Expert in Hysys simulation and hydraulic modeling. Supports the operations of oil and gas facilities with expert advice and troubleshooting. Manages and delivers complex projects involving multiple global stakeholders and manages teams of professionals. Certified in process safety by the TÜV Rheinland institute, Safety Engineering designation. Cesar has a Master’s Degree in Chemical and Petroleum Engineering from the University of Calgary with a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering at Universidad Nacional de Colombia, currently working as Process Safety Engineer at CNRL for conventional and thermal sites. He is responsible for leading process incident investigations and Root Cause Analyses, facilitating Hazops and PHAs and supporting operations teams across different business units within the company. With over 20 years of professional experience, Cesar started his career at Ecopetrol Oil Refinery in Colombia then moved to Canada, briefly performed R&D with Fuel Cells and extensively worked as Process Engineer for two major engineering companies in Calgary. Supported different projects around the world as an active member of the Talisman Energy's Global Projects group based in Calgary and worked at heavy oil and gas facilities within the Canada Production Engineering team at Repsol Canada Oil and Gas. He also provided engineering technical support to the New Water Technology Development Centre (WTDC) at Suncor's Firebag facility, an initiative of the Canada's Oil Sands Innovation Alliance (COSIA), funded by CNRL, Suncor, Shell, Devon, Nexen and Husky.
