About Chad Brown

I’m passionate about connecting leadership, practice, and education to shape sustainable, forward-looking institutions across veterinary medicine. Over the past 20+ years, I’ve combined practice ownership, academic leadership, and teaching to improve systems, strengthen teams, and prepare the next generation of leaders. Raised in rural Appalachia, I began my career serving small communities—an experience that shaped my resilience, adaptability, and people-first approach. Along the way, I discovered how much I value working with students, supporting teams, and building collaborative cultures. My interest in business and finance continues to guide how I approach hospital operations, strategy, and program design with an emphasis on clarity, sustainability, and growth. Today, I serve as Executive Director of Hospital Operations at Iowa State University’s Lloyd Veterinary Medical Center, overseeing a multimillion-dollar budget and collaborating with clinical and academic leaders across 25 service lines. I also teach practice management and entrepreneurship in the College of Veterinary Medicine, helping future veterinarians develop the leadership and business skills essential for long-term success.
