About Chad Fleck

Born and raised in a mix of agriculture and oil and gas, I am pleased to be in a role that allows the opportunity to reconnect with all the great and hardworking people in Canada's oil and gas industry. In this role, I hope to shape policy formulation by identifying growth strategies supported by key strategic initiatives that are central to the growth and profitability of Canada’s oil and gas industry. I believe it is possible to be supportive of Canada's oil and gas industry yet at the same time work toward climate objectives. The world, particularly developing economies with young populations, will continue to need more energy. That demand will be filled from somewhere and necessary emissions reductions are much more likely to be achieved by working with rather than against the oil and gas industry. Previous experience includes the TMX Task Force, where I was pleased to contribute to the consultation process with Canada's indigenous peoples. Prior to this I spent more than 20 years in international trade, where I was exposed to a broad range of industries in more than thirty markets around the world. I am an experienced multilingual international business development professional. Results-driven orientation with proven track record of relationship building, skills development, identifying investment opportunities, technology development, expanding export markets and risk diversification. Experienced international team leader and committed follower. Proven track-record building quality executive working relationships with government, business, non- governmental organizations and media. More recent experience includes the Canadian Embassy in Tokyo, Japan, where I had the privilege of leading the team responsible for international business development in the Food, Health & Lifestyle industries, providing direct support to Canadian business clients who together represent more than $4 billion of annual business volume in the Japanese market. Prior to this, I served as Chief of Staff within the 2010 Muskoka G8 and Toronto G20 Summits Management Office, where I gained a first hand view of the world's evolving system of global governance.
