About Chad Matthews

I am currently assigned to the Patrol division of the Goodyear Police Department in Arizona following a relocation from Washington State. I am going back to the roots of working patrol and look forward to this new adventure. I was previously assigned to investigations division of the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office as the Registered Sex Offender Detective managing approximately sex/kidnapping offenders. I was tasked with the registration and management of all registered sex offenders residing within Snohomish County and investigate violations of sex offender registration. I was a member of the end of sentence review committee with Washington State Department of Corrections. I have participated in break out committees and groups working to develop and mold registration related laws/policies within the state of WA representing the law enforcement side; maintaining a goal of identifying and fighting for not only what I believed to be the best practices at the time; but safest for the community at large. I continually worked with the Washington State Association of Sheriff's and Police Chiefs, neighboring agencies and colleagues throughout the state to improve & propose changes to policy. We did so through training and familiarization with the tasks associated with the management of Sex Offenders in hopes of increasing overall accountability and reduce the likelihood for re-offense post conviction.
