Background
About Chad Molitor
I'm just a guy who loves learning new skills constantly and taking a deep dive into new processes and experiences. I often wear many hats in the workplace and sometimes way too many hats at one time. That's probably why I'm balding a little. I wanted to be a draftsman ever since I peeped a drafting table at a friend's house when I was 12. The idea that you could draw blueprints for a living blew my little mind. Yeah, I was a weird kid - I also really liked math class. In my early twenties I ended up cooking for a living and working my way up the ladder into a kitchen management position as a sous chef, but after many years of working every weekend and working every single holiday, and experiencing way too many burns and cuts, I decided to enroll in the Spokane Community college program for Drafting and Design. I spent several years going to school during the day and managing a team at night, then going home and doing calculus homework until 2 in the morning. I graduated and finally started my drafting career, even though I still loved cooking and working with a close-knit team of chefs. I love both 2d drafting and 3d modeling, and work on CAD projects for fun in my spare time. You should see me extensive collection of random lego parts I have modeled in cad software! I also have a few arcade cabinets I have built over the years from both from my reverse engineering and my own custom designs. I also love helping customers design new products for manufacturing, solving oddball complicated problems, and reverse engineering old, broken parts for customers so I can produce replacement parts to keep their machines running. It's just as cool as drawing mechanical parts for a living. Working in a manufacturing environment quickly led into learning all about the cnc machining world and then several years of attending night classes to learn even more. The end result is that I can take a project from the from an idea somebody wrote on a napkin, right to very end, resulting in a fully realized part. Working in small shop environments has granted me the opportunity to learn every aspect production and gain experience in every area, including customer communication, job estimation, writing purchase orders, material purchasing, job scheduling, product design, CAD drafting, creating detailed blueprints, cnc programming, cnc setup and machining, quality control and inspection, shipping and packaging, and of course invoicing. I can't believe you read all of that, but I also love writing too, and I'm fast approaching the word limit for the text box!
