About Chad Trebby

My progression in the law enforcement career started just after high school when I enlisted in the US Air Force. While serving the the USAF I was responsible for law enforcement operations, resource protection and and air base defense. After my contract expired I took a position as a patrol officer for the Gillette Police Department (Wyoming). While with the GPD served as a patrol officer, field training officer, tactical team member, director of the bike patrol program, narcotics investigation, general detective, and the shifts senior officer. After about 10 years I started looking for a new opportunity and I landed at the Northern Wyoming Community College District in a position as a police officer. After starting in that position I used my community connections to rebuild the reputation and operations of the department at the Gillette Campus. When I started Officers were not even sure what authority they with the agency and they were writing report in MS Word. I started by improving the relationship with community partners, and developing a training program for officers and implementing a modern records management software program. After about two years I was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and am second in command of the department in addition to being responsible for all law enforcement operations on the Gillette Campus. This is a challenging position requiring the supervision of officers and programs on two campus almost 120 miles apart. In addition to supervising day to day operations I am also responsible for budgeting, records management, shift scheduling, data collection, evidence storage, crisis management, behavior intervention, Title IX, Clery crime stats and publishing the Annual Security Report. Having just attended the International Associations of Chiefs of Police Course,"Leadership in Police Organizations," I am ready to begin the next stage of my career.
