About Chaila Johnson

I am a conscientious designer interested in architecture that changes the built environment for the betterment of communities. After participating in a study abroad program in Asia, I recognized the emphasis we as architects should place on more intentional design practices and sustainable designs. I am passionate about the ability of those sustainable designs coupled with participatory interactive environments to intersect for the formation of more inclusive, socially-oriented spaces. As a student with an interest in both architecture and theme parks, I am always looking for how one discipline can influence the other. Being a designer, I recognize that architecture has the ability to change the world but as a black woman, I am aware that architecture cannot change communities until POC's are represented at every level of the design process. As the world changes so too will the world of architecture, thus changing how we design for underrepresented communities and society at large. As an aspiring architect, I am looking forward to being an instrumental part of that change!
