About Chanel James

I always knew that I wanted to make a difference, but I wasn’t ever sure how to go about it. I unconsciously started the act of helping others as a very small child; racing my older brother to our apartment doors to help hold the door for the elders that lived in our building. As soon as I was of working age I began working for the local YMCA. I spent my evenings helping children with a list of things after school; homework, confidence, build meaningful peer relationships, and so much more. These experiences led to me to help end a school year as a 1:1 paraprofessional where I have been able to give direct support to students. I am now gaining experience in mental health as a brain injury counselor. When I graduated with my associates in early childhood education, I knew my passion to help was deeper than I expected. With this in mind I decided to further my education, at Kean University, where I earned my bachelors degree in psychology. Outside of work I enjoy photography, nature trails and traveling.
