About Chanel Whitaker

I am passionate about education and bringing health and well-being to all. As an educator, I teach students the importance of a healthy lifestyle in the physical, mental, social, and emotional realms. I engage my students in a wide variety of learning experiences to assess their own health and wellness, develop goals and plans to improve health for themselves and others, and discuss the effect of healthy lifestyles within communities. As a researcher, my ultimate goal is to create innovative, low-cost training and assessment tools through the use of virtual reality for translation into clinical settings to enhance rehabilitation and healthcare access. I firmly believe in the idea that exercise is medicine, both encouraging my students to be more physically active and participating in a wide variety of exercise myself—including mountain biking the beautiful trails of Northwest Arkansas and rock-climbing at Horseshoe Canyon Ranch.
