About Charl Young

Hi, I’m Charl—a former theatre kid turned corporate communicator who still believes in the power of a strong opening number, a clean Canva layout, and a really good caption. I work as a Senior Internal Communications Specialist at WebTPA, where I get to blend strategy with creativity every day. I write scripts for internal videos, manage photography and visual storytelling, and craft engaging content across platforms—affectionately known as the “Canva Queen” by my coworkers. I also have a not-so-secret love of comedy writing, which means I can turn compliance copy into something you’ll actually want to read. My background is in vocal music and theatre with an honors thesis on the influence of Stephen Sondheim, and I spent several years teaching, directing musicals, and helping young students find their voice—on and off the stage. That experience taught me how to collaborate like an actor and take feedback like a pro. I believe good communication is like good theatre: it’s specific, it’s human, and it leaves the audience feeling something. As for the humor, design, and heart? That’s where I come in.
