A poet" is the best summary. In my case, that has included founding two literary presses, one of which, Chax Press, has now existed since 2004. Chax is both a trade paperback publisher and a fine letterpress book arts publisher. In 2014 became a faculty member, directing the Communications Design Program, and the graduate MFA Creative Writing Program, at the University of Houston Victoria. Author of 6 books and 13 chapbooks of poetry, including Pushing Water, Some Sentences Search for Some Periods, Certain Slants, Near or Random Acts, and more, from presses that include Cuneiform, Little Red Leaves, Junction, Singing Horse, Segue. My poetry is informed by practices in language arts from Renaissance poets, early modernists, avant-gardists, Objectivists (particularly Louis Zukofsky and Lorine Niedecker), Black Mountain (Charles Olson, Robert Creeley, and more) and other "New American" poets, language poets, and the work of peers ranging from Charles Bernstein and Bev Dahlen to Will Alexander, Linh Dinh, Norma Cole, Stacy Doris, and many more.
