About Charles Blanchette

Strategic operations leader and facilities manager with a passion for building high-performing research environments. As Manager of Research Facilities in Research Operations at Boston Children's Hospital, I oversee the core infrastructure and services that support one of the nation’s leading pediatric research institutions. I work cross-functionally with scientists, engineers, and hospital leadership to ensure the development of safe, efficient, and forward-looking facilities that enable cutting-edge discovery. A core part of my work involves embedding sustainability into lab operations—from equipment procurement to space planning—aligning with BCH’s long-term goals of achieving carbon neutrality and optimizing resource use. I also co-chair BCH’s Environmental Sustainability Employee Lead Group and lead the nationally recognized Green Labs Program, which has earned awards, including the International Freezer Challenge's top clinical organization designation for four consecutive years. Outside the hospital, I serve as the CEO of The Key Foundation, a nonprofit organization that supports youth leadership and outdoor education through scholarships and partnerships. I’m also on the Board of Directors for the I2SL New England Chapter and a committed Scouting volunteer, helping the next generation develop character and confidence. I bring a rare blend of operational insight, facilities strategy, sustainability leadership, and nonprofit governance, always grounded in collaboration and long-term impact.
