About Charles Bourke

I am an Irish Solicitor specialising in civil litigation and employment law. I moved to Australia in April 2011 to gain valuable work experience in another jurisdiction and to broaden my horizons. I also wanted to escape the recession and constant reference to it. Australia was the perfect match for me because the economy was thriving and English is the primary language. I gained significant experience working in personal injuries, employers' liability, public liability, alternative dispute resolution and insurance law. I returned to Ireland in April 2016 because the economy had turned a corner and I wanted to raise my family in my home country. The role of Solicitor/Claims Handler with Padraic Smith & Co. offered me the opportunity to work for one of Ireland's most successful companies and one of the largest airlines in the world. I managed over five hundred personal injury claims across Europe, negotiating favourable outcomes on behalf of my client. I organised and attended meetings with my client regarding new and litigated claims. I commenced working for Mangan O'Beirne Solicitors because I saw it as a good opportunity to return to working for a nice sized firm. I handled a wide variety of claims in personal injuries, public liability, defamation, employment law matters, family law, probate litigation and commercial litigation. I attended consultations, hearings and court with clients and obtained favourable settlements on their behalf. However, I wanted to specialise in my areas of expertise, most notably personal injuries, employers' liability, public liability and insurance law so I took up an opportunity working as a Solicitor for Ennis & Associates. In my role, I enjoy working on behalf of insurance companies and state bodies negotiating favourable outcomes on their behalf. I regularly attend the District, Circuit and High Courts both in Dublin and regional jurisdictions throughout the country and handle a portfolio of more than 200 claims.
