About Charles Cantrell

After more than 30 years in the computer field, I am retired. In my career, I was involved in solving information processing problems. I have worked as programmer for a machine tool company, and in data processing. I have automated internal business processes using C#, PHP, SQL, XML, web services and other technologies. This removed the need to produce reports manually, and resulted in substantial improvements in the reliability and consistency of these processes. At Ontario Systems as a Systems Analyst, I built performance test systems and automated testing of applications. There my job included web-based application development and developing an XML editing and content management system used by the Technical Communications department. My key strengths included learning new technologies, problem solving, and persistence. As an example, I built an application for testing Java-based distributed applications. This required learning soapUI, ActiveMQ, VMWare and other related tools and utilities. I was able to put these technologies together to build a system that tested and characterized the performance of each distributed component. I was a pragmatic problem solver. At ExactTarget, later acquired by Salesforce, I helped develop and manage their CMS, running on EPiServer. Specialties: I was competent in C#, PHP, XML, HTML, DHTML, JavaScript and web services. I have also programmed in Java, Caché, and other languages. I am experienced in programming, technical writing, Content Management Systems, CGI programming, PERL, publishing tools and procedures. I continue working in the community as as board member at Trusted Mentors, working to help that organization expand their operations. I formerly tutored school children through Indianapolis Schools on Wheels and served as a Child Advocate.
