About Charles Coyne

I joined BHP as a subject matter expert almost a year ago; following 7 years at Lendlease as an Engineer developing software and building large data systems. Prior to that Xstrata had me develop utilities and reports for their human resources department. My early career spanned various facets of industrial process data: collecting and analyzing times-series in historians, developing a bespoke data warehouse through to enterprise Business Intelligence solutions. This fueled my interest in open source and cloud-based data analytics platforms, including InfluxDB and AWS.Data aside, I spent a large chunk of my professional life designing and developing applications; web-based being my favorite. This was my introduction to test-driven development, one of the most valuable processes I have come to appreciate as far a software quality is concerned. At home, I try to automate anything I get my hands on and collect any data from it for no reason (yet known). I have also recently become obsessed with programmable mechanical keyboards.
