About Charles Hedgespeth

Progressive and engaging law enforcement & criminal justice practitioner and instructor. Experience includes investigations for hundreds of indigent defendants, the successful prosecution of thousands of criminals and violators, educating hundreds of future criminal justice professionals that were earning their undergraduate degrees, training well over one thousand sworn police officers, and instructing hundreds of future police officers through a twenty-four week paramilitary basic training. While I enjoy and have a lot of experience instructing many "traditional" police and criminal justice topics, my passion lies in preparing current and future practitioners for the emotional, mental, and physical demands of their profession. I believe these topics have been ignored and I enjoy brining them to the forefront. Officer suicide and health related deaths make "us" and our choices the biggest threat that we will encounter throughout our careers. Primary instructor experience: wellness, fitness, ethics, emotional intelligence, police supervision, community policing, rural crime, criminal procedure, investigations, homeland security, report writing, and defensive tactics. Secondary instructor experience: firearms, driving, and traffic stops.
