About Charles Humphries
Charles studied at the Architectural Association in London before being recruited at the founding of the renowned London practice Munkenbeck and Marshall where he became an associate. He worked on a number of high profile projects over the next 14 years including a flagship store for the designer Yohji Yamamoto and one of the largest new-build private houses in London, a stunning contemporary design in The Bishop’s Avenue using wood and stone. His work is influenced by a childhood in Rome in the 1960’s. “It was a place and time that combined elegant economical design with the decaying historical urban fabric in a coup de theatre”. Charles founded HEAT Architecture in as a specialist high-end residential practice working for developers and private clients, with ISO9001 certification for quality assurance. HEAT has since been responsible for over 170 residential projects including Charles’s own award winning Zinc House.
