As a Senior Innovation Manager at Merck KGaA’s Future Insight group, I leverage my expertise in scientific project management, technology scouting, public funding acquisition, and alliance management to drive innovation. My passion lies in fostering an entrepreneurial mindset and ensuring Merck KGaA remains at the forefront of scientific and technological advancements. With a PhD in organic chemistry focused on developing materials for direct air capture of carbon dioxide, I have numerous patents and publications in this field. My expertise spans synthetic and analytical chemistry, including labelled compound synthesis, molecular recognition, radioanalytical techniques, natural product synthesis, X-ray crystallography, and small molecule design for liquid-liquid extraction. In my current role, I spearhead initiatives like the Compound Challenge, a global retrosynthesis competition uniting chemists worldwide. Whether managing research grants with leading universities, collaborating with startups, procuring public funding, or orchestrating innovation events like hackathons and competitions, my goal is to connect Merck KGaA’s leadership with cutting-edge technologies and innovation groups to discover the next breakthrough.
