About Charles Smeets

Dear reader, Over the past twenty years, I have had the opportunity to work with a wide variety of people from diverse backgrounds, spanning large multinational corporations, small startups in the local community, university collaborations and sutainble projects in other parts of the world. The projects I have been involved in center around three main topics: strategy, innovation, and data. While each of these domains is fascinating on its own, I have learned that my true passion emerges when they are connected to societal progress, education, and the well-being of our planet. I am especially inspired when I work with people who bring fresh perspectives, and when I can inspire others in return; particularly when philosophical reflection is part of the journey. I am keen to collaborate with people who share similar values and who demonstrate a strong commitment to data, teamwork, innovation, and sustainability. In my next corporate role, I am available as a Chief Data Officer (CDO), with a focus on data governance, monetization, ethics, and AI. My aim is to help organizations embrace a data-driven future while staying true to their core values. Alongside my professional work, I continue to believe deeply in the importance of lifelong learning and regularly challenging one’s internal values. In parallel, I am committed to several projects, including sustainable energy initiatives in Africa, promoting philosophy for all, and developing fair swimming buoys.
