With solid, timely information I can help companies make better decisions, position themselves for growth, secure appropriate capital, merge and acquire with logical companies and help to be laser focused on core competencies. To evaluate your company you must know what really happened, how and why in as close to live time as possible. I’ve been doing this for twenty-six years and have seen the nuts and bolts of almost all accounting and business transactions. Having the privilege of learning new industries in very short periods of time has been pivotal in my professional development. This entrepreneurial, consulting perspective and experience has helped me develop the following: My first principle is to get your books closed as quickly and accurately as possible with a minimal amount of staffing time. My second principle is to never forget the cost-benefit principle. Constantly ask why are we doing something and how does it benefit us? My third principle is to create a comfortable environment where people actually enjoy coming to work – the productivity will soon follow. My fourth principle is to have empathy for all stakeholders – owners, managers, lenders, customers, vendors and the greater community. You will always be a better negotiator if you truly appreciate the other side’s position. My fifth principle is to welcome thinking and acting out of the box. Don’t be afraid to consider job sharing, telecommuting, splitting job functions and allowing roles to become part-time, for example. Creativity in financing is another passion and ongoing role of mine.
