Background
About Charley Giberti
I am a data analysis professional with experience in Law Enforcement, Crime Analysis, Academic Research, and Collegiate Instruction. My career in law enforcement began in Panama City Beach and Bay County, Florida, where I served as a patrol officer and a member of the open-water rescue and riot teams. While serving, I completed Instructor Certification and Advanced Tactical Training. I left Florida to pursue a PhD in Criminal Justice at the University of Cincinnati, where I taught undergraduate and graduate courses including Statistics, Criminology, White-Collar Crime, Biosocial Criminology, Policing, Research Methods, and Crime Prevention. After completing coursework and qualifying exams, I was recruited to the Cincinnati Police Department as an analyst. At CPD, I worked as both a crime analyst and intelligence analyst. I supported the NIBIN program with link analysis, E-trace data, and target workups. I produced the weekly COMPSTAT presentation and developed software tools that automated strategic, administrative, and tactical products for both command staff and officers in the field. I later joined Wichita PD as the Supervisory Crime Analyst, where I built a new Crime Analysis Unit from the ground up. Today, I serve as a Department of Justice contractor specializing in next-generation intelligence analysis platforms. I currently support the DOJ Money Laundering and Asset Recovery Section (MLARS) and USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS). My previous consulting clients include the DOD OIG, Army CID, the United Nations, Toronto Police Service, global banks, major e-commerce platforms, and multiple foreign governments. I am an expert Power BI trainer and have helped hundreds of crime analysts across North America integrate data visualization and automation into their workflows. I’m also proficient in MS Access and Excel, an advanced ArcGIS user (ArcMap, ArcPro, ModelBuilder), and skilled in Python, VBA, and batch scripting for process automation. I serve as a Subject Matter Expert for Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), the Crime Analyst in Residence (CAR) program, and the IACP Collaborative Reform Initiative (CRI-TAC). I also teach crime analysis and criminology at Michigan State University, Mount St. Mary’s University, and the University of Colorado Colorado Springs.
