About Charlotte Dean

At Hertford Regional College, I work as a GCSE English Lecturer alongside my role as Curriculum Coordinator for the English department, where I contribute both at classroom and strategic level. As a teacher, my focus is on fostering a love for language and equipping students with the critical thinking and communication skills they need for academic and professional success. Drawing on my background in media strategy and time management, I design engaging, dynamic lessons tailored to the diverse needs of learners, supporting them to develop strong analytical and writing skills. In my role as Curriculum Coordinator, I lead on curriculum planning, coherence, and quality across GCSE and Functional Skills English. This includes aligning schemes of work, assessment practices, and teaching approaches to ensure consistency, inclusivity, and high standards across the department, while supporting colleagues to deliver impactful learning.Alongside this, I serve as a PGCE mentor, providing guidance, support, and constructive feedback to trainee teachers as they develop their practice and professional confidence. This role allows me to contribute to the growth of future educators and strengthen a culture of collaboration and reflective practice.Previously, as a 1:1 English Tutor, I specialised in personalised learning strategies to build learners’ confidence and academic performance. My work is driven by a strong belief that every learner can succeed with the right support. As part of a collaborative English team, I am committed to high-quality teaching, curriculum development, and improving student outcomes through innovative and inclusive practice.
