Background
About Charlotte Hack
I am a highly qualified Advanced Paramedic Practitioner currently working for The West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS). I have 10 years’ experience as a registered paramedic. My present role requires me to use complex advanced communication skills, with experience in maintaining contemporaneous records. Working as an Advanced Paramedic Practitioner for the past 3.5 years has given me valuable experience concentrating on working in a more advanced and autonomous role as a Clinician. I have experience in mentoring students abd current staff and writing action plans. I have mentored all levels of university students, newly qualified paramedics, and Military of Defence trainee medics. Being an autonomous Advanced Paramedic and being able to treat patients with evidence-based learning and healthcare advice is what I strive to do in my current role. To further facilitate my ongoing clinical and managerial professional development, I have undergone further training in the Emergency Care Practitioner course at Wolverhampton University where I have gained voluntary experience in the minor injuries and started my Senior Engaging Leaders Course with Coventry University. I have completed my Master's degree in prescribing and Advanced Clinical Practice. I am now an active prescriber for WMAS. It is my clinical responsibility to complete child protection and vulnerable adult referrals and to liaise with a multi-disciplinary team; Critical thinking, analysis, triage, and clinical judgement are all essential skills that I use in my current daily duties. They enable me to provide a first-class person-centred approach with thorough assessment and appropriate treatment of a patient’s clinical and social needs by utilising my own professional knowledge. I have advanced experience in primary care working for 2 separate GP surgeries focusing on different areas of development during my time. I employ evidence- based practice into my role, but I also find it a poignant part of triaging patients when physical assessment is not able to be carried out. Through my career I have shown myself to be perceptive and flexible by developing new skills and of course by doing shift work! My previously mentioned leadership-skills illustrate my continuous professional development and learning. I am experienced in advanced patient assessments with the ability to use my own initiative. I am trained at a high standard to efficiently prioritise, manage, and delegate a team including non-face to face communication in a high-pressurised environment.
