About Charlotte Hook

I am PhD Political Science student at UBC with an ambition to work in the outer space industry. My research focuses on outer space security with an emphasis on space environmentalism and sustainability. I am working as a Research Assistant in legal and policy issues at the Outer Space Institute which specialises in transdisciplinary research on grand outer space challenges. This role provides experience in cutting-edge research and the opportunity to learn more about the growing field of outer space activities in preparation for my career aspirations. My MA in Political Science and BA in Honours Political Science and History Minor from UBC has thoroughly honed my skills in research, communication and critical evaluation which are abilities essential across many corporate environments. In Political Science, I specialised in international politics and particularly the subject of Outer Space Politics as this new frontier presents unprecedented policy and legal issues. My minor in History supports my major by developing my research skills and giving valuable historical insight to the emergence of numerous topical issues in Outer Space politics such as colonial rhetoric and roots in the utilisation of space resources and environmental protection and sustainability. My work experience in administrative support, data analysis and event organisation has allowed to me gain experience operating in office environments and develop organisation and time-management skills.
