About Charlotte Ramsden

Charlotte has a wealth of experience and knowledge in children's social care and was awarded the OBE for services to Children's Services in October 2020. Beginning her career as a social worker, Charlotte has a strong track record of improving statutory social work provision in local authorities. She held a range of management positions prior to joining Salford City Council in 2014 as Director of Children's Services then Strategic Director for People. She is the Immediate Past President of the Association of Directors of Children’s Services. In her current role as Chief Executive Officer of Bradford Children and Families Trust, Charlotte is committed to working in partnership to deliver the best possible outcomes for and with Bradford's children, young people and their families. Bradford Children and Families Trust assumed operational responsibility for children’s early help and social care services from Bradford Council on Saturday, 1 April 2023. It is an arm’s length limited company, which is owned by and accountable to the council, but operationally independent from it, with an experienced and independent Board to support its work. The Trust's vision is for all children and young people in Bradford to be safe and able to realise their full potential. The decision to form a Trust was made in January 2022 in response to a report from Children's Commissioner Steve Walker. The Commissioner worked with the Council to establish the best way to improve children’s services following Ofsted’s inadequate rating in 2018. Charlotte Ramsden OBE, newly appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Bradford Children and Families Trust, said: “I am delighted and deeply honored to be offered the role of Chief Executive Officer for Bradford’s new Children and Families Trust. This is an exciting opportunity to build on the green shoots of progress made in children’s services and contribute to the council’s ambition for Bradford District to be a great place to be a child.
