About Charmaine Cunningham

My career spans several worlds including clinical care, education, management, and research. Clinically I have practiced various aspects of acute care; including pre-hospital, remote medicine, critical and emergency care, fulfilling management and leadership positions in most. I am driven by understanding how we can build capacity and leadership in healthcare by improving cross-silo collaboration, sense-making, teamwork and process improvement. I believe these are key to strengthening the health system and improving access to care. I am a passionate and energetic educator, and I teach on various post-graduate courses. My research interests include access to care, education, sense-making, and community-based emergency care/response systems. I favor qualitative research methods e.g, narrative methods and participatory action research.
