About Chaz Snell

I'm the man behind the lens and founder of two visual media brands - The Plastic Goldfish Company and Wide Angles Property Marketing Services. When asked what I do, I say "I shoot people, places, events and spaces" which boils it down in a nutshell and usually turns a few heads in the process. My projects often include corporate headshots and candid photos of staff for companies to use for web, marketing and social media, as well as event photography, interior and exterior venue and property stills, drone work as well as 3D virtual property tours and video. This tech-first approach comes from my less-than-conventional journey to becoming a photographer; My background is in Information Technology, where I spent 12 years co-founding and running Pro2col Ltd, a Managed File Transfer consultancy. I have also worked for Apple-based companies in the Graphic Arts, Print & Publishing space for over 25 years as both an engineer and a technical consultant and worked with companies including BBC Worldwide and HSBC Bank. Despite not holding the camera for this hefty chunk of my professional career, I was always working with image departments and was obsessed with the technical potential for photos. I worked closely with photographers and was involved in getting images in fast, processing and manipulating images, and making sure they were print and newspaper ready as required. I knew what an image had to be to work for the story, and I knew, technically, how to push it there. Having run multiple businesses myself, I understand the commercials and know your photos have a job to do. I shoot to brief and will never compromise on capturing images that serve their purpose for the sake of getting an "artsy" photo - that might be a great approach for weddings and personal events, but when it comes to commercial photography, there's no point having that pretty picture if you can't use it. I shoot in and around Oxfordshire, London and love to work on projects throughout the UK.
