About Chelsea May

I am a music education major turned retail manager with a passion for people. When I was in high school trying to figure out what I wanted to be when I grew up, I looked to the teacher who inspired me and had a large positive impact on my life. I decided I wanted to be like them, to have that same impact on those around me. Even though I never became a teacher, I found that I can have that same positive impact on those employees that I work with everyday and help them become the best versions of themselves. In over a decade as a retail manager I have helped numerous employees gain promotions through coaching and mentoring, while making lifelong friends along the way.While working as a Senior Field Trainor for Kroger, I was able to help more employees in their career development through facilitation of leadership trainings and succession planning programs. It was in this position that I found my love for the Human Resources area of business and decided to further my education and experience in this area. I am currently working on completing courses to earn my Masters Degree from Bellevue University in Human Resource Strategic Management. I also obtained the Society for Human Resource Management Certified Professional certification. Through this training, as well as on the job experience as the Human Resource Manager at the Urbandale Hy-Vee location, I have grown my skills and expertise in the Human Resources field and will continue to look for opportunities to grow and learn with any future positions that I may have.
