What do you want to be when you grow up?” I’d like to think that’s an ongoing process that you continually discover the answer to as you move on throughout your life. I remember graduating from college and thinking, “I can’t wait to be a professional sports photographer!” I absolutely love action photography and have found many ways to incorporate that passion into my life even if it’s not my career. As I have been presented opportunities in my life, I have learned more about what makes me thrive and be happy. I had the great fortune to work for a portrait photography studio straight out of college. I was quickly promoted to studio manager, where I honed several beneficial skills that I will carry with me throughout my entire professional life: managing and training employees, customer service, sales, studio operations, and many many more. After a year, I was able to transfer to an even higher revenue studio, so my husband and I relocated to North Carolina. It was certainly a challenge operating a studio with higher volume, but I enjoyed it! After making the decision to move on from that career path due to the ever-fluctuating hours, I began work as an administrative assistant at Signs Unlimited, Inc. This was an entirely new experience for me, but I was confident that I would quickly learn what I needed to. I had to learn several new skills: how to use quickbooks, handling accounts receivables/payables, quote preparation, further develop my organizational skills, and many others. My knowledge grew and I enjoyed learning new tasks with my position at Hero. I furthered my skills in office management and got the chance to work in the art field again, which was a refreshing change of pace! It relit my passion for art and lead me to my current position with Carson! After our family relocated to Nebraska to be closer to family, I knew I didn’t want to just find another job but to find a family like Hero was to me. Enter Carson, my new work family. It’s truly an amazing place and I love the people I work with. My position first as Marketing Coordinator, then now as Multimedia Specialist allows me to do my passion everyday so it’s not truly “work”, and I sincerely hope everyone finds that someday.
