About Chen Tian

Chen Tian is the Head of China Desk, Europe, Commercial Banking, HSBC - one of the world’s largest banking and financial service organisations. He is also a Relationship Director in HSBC Ireland. Chen specialises in working with multinational companies setting up operations in Europe. He provides comprehensive assistance and a high level of expertise, flexibility and service for banking solutions. One of his key responsibility is to develop the China Europe Business Corridor (covering Belgium, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, The Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland) as well as China Central & Eastern Europe Business Corridor utilising the HSBC Worldwide network. Chen took additional responsibilities for liaising with Chinese investments to France and Germany in Jan 2022. Other responsibilities include supporting multinational companies worldwide setting up operations in Ireland, portfolio management and key due diligence. Chen joined HSBC Ireland in 2018 and has held numerous roles in Corporate Banking, Retail Banking and Global Markets in the banking industry since 2004. He has served on the Ireland China Business Association Council since 2012 and was re-elected in 2018. As an advocate for sustainability, Chen completed Oxford Leading Sustainable Corporations Programme from Said Business School in 2021 in order to support more businesses to become more sustainable and more adaptive to climate change. Chen holds an Honours Degree in Master of Business Studies, Finance from UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate School of Business, an Honours B.A. Degree in International Business and Languages from Dublin Institute of Technology (TU Dublin) and a Diploma in Aviation Leasing & Finance from the Law Society of Ireland. He is also a Qualified Financial Advisor (QFA) and an European Financial Advisor™ (EFA), accredited by the Institute of Banking Ireland European Financial Planning Association. Chen is a mentor in the UCD Smurfit Global Leadership Programme - Mentoring Programme. He is also a committee member in the HSBC Ireland Embrace Committee in promoting cultural diversity.
