About Chen Wang
My research focuses on studying excitonic dynamics in organic and inorganic materials using optical spectroscopy. I will combine both electronic transition (absorption and photoluminescence) and vibrational (IR and Raman) spectroscopies. Knowledge learned in the materials can be employed for rational designing of functional materials that can be applied in optoelectronics, photovoltaics, photocatalysis, and light-emitting devices, etc. I can teach basic undergraduate physical chemistry courses, and in particular, encourage students to apply tools of physics and mathematics to study chemistry problems. I would like to develop a senior curriculum to inspire students to approach to the research of photochemistry and photophysics. I also have a plan to systematically teach students how to apply different spectroscopic tools to solve general problems in chemistry and biochemistry studies. I want to direct research of graduate (including Ph. D and master) students at a research institute.
