About Cheng Qiu
Cheng Qiu is a Chinese researcher, practitioner, educator, speaker and writer on sustainable agriculture and food systems. She is the founder and CEO of a social enterprise on sustainability, focusing on educating change-makers to restore human-nature relationship through food. She collaborates with a wide network of partners to promote food forests/forest gardens (perennial poly-culture agricultural systems), urban agriculture and composting systems, educational farms/gardens, and alternative food networks in China. She has given over 50 talks and trainings on sustainable food systems in mainland China and Taiwan since 2017. Her talks and writings have been widely circulated, empowering hundreds of thousands to participate in the food movements in China. E.g. Previously Cheng worked at the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) conducting impact evaluations of development policies for four years while part-time participating in the US sustainable food movements in Washington, D.C. She returned to China promoting sustainable agri-food systems as Food & Agriculture Senior Campaigner at Greenpeace East Asia (Beijing) for 8 months before her PhD in Food Studies at NYU.
