Background
About Cherry Bryant
Careers Leader at Winstanley College giving careers education, advice and guidance across the whole college. I manage the careers team and have rebranded the department. I give 1:1 guidance; deliver workshops, plan and organise careers events and support teachers with employer engagement. My role involves networking with employers, universities, providers and all other careers organisations. I designed and run the Apprenticeship and Employability programme for students who are considering not going to university. Before Winstanley, I was a teacher and Head of Faculty for 17 years. I have experience in working within areas of deprivation. My work in schools even as an NQT was above and beyond a normal teaching role. I worked in schools under special measures and became well versed with regular Ofsted visits. Roles have included, Girls Achievement Co-ordinator, Head of RE, Assistant Head of Humanities, Head of PSHE, Citizenship and Careers. I created partnerships between schools including charities, employers, guest speakers and all other orgaisations that support education. Before teaching I was a learning mentor who supported children with barriers to learning. I also taught English in South Korea after university. My aim for Winstanley is to create a welcoming and approachable hive of support for all students who are struggling with making decisions about their future. With Gatsby Benchmarks in mind, I want students to be aware of ALL of their options after college and to feel empowered to make their own decisions. It is such an exciting time for careers. With the technical reform and skills agenda, my job relevant and fascinating at the same time.
