Cheryl Hyder is the principal at Hyder Consulting Group, a consultancy focused on providing business valuation, financial investigation, and other forensic accounting - related services in litigious and non-litigious settings. She has been performing related assignments for most of her career. Her classic training & experience as a Certified Public Accountant provides a foundation for most of her consulting assignments; she is able to apply that knowledge to her specialized skills and training achieved for advanced accreditation as a business valuator (ABV) and certifications she's achieved in fraud examination, business valuation, & financial forensics (CFE, CVA,CFF). She also holds or has held leadership positions several organizations dedicated to enhancing bodies of knowledge in these specialized areas on local, state and national levels. She has testified as an expert in the Commonwealth of Virginia and District of Columbia, for matters involving forensic accounting, business valuation, accounting standard of care and income taxation as well as estimates of economic damages. Hyder developed and assisted in the implementation of fraud prevention programs for a major Federal agency as well as publicly- and privately-owned companies. She is a frequent speaker on topics related to financial investigations, fraud examinations, and business valuations, in addition to professional ethics for CPAs and CFEs, to peer groups, attorneys, law enforcement, professional organizations and undergraduate and graduate students. Her contributions and efforts in fraud prevention and detection earned her special recognition by the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.
