About Cheryl Willis

Cheryl came to social emotional learning and mindfulness with a strong passion for building compassion and enriching the lives of young children. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from San Francisco State University in Liberal Studies with an emphasis on Children and Families. While in college Cheryl took yoga and meditation as an elective for 2 years and fell in love with the emotional and physical benefits the practices offered for her life. While working as a stay at home mom with 3 boys she remained active by volunteering in her boys schools; she started in the classroom and eventually became President of the PTO. She was eager for Mindfulness First to come into the CCUSD elementary schools and couldn’t wait to bring her experience and passions of working with a non-profit, children, yoga and meditation to this organization. Cheryl has received her Mindfulness Fundamentals, Difficult Emotions and Mindfulness Curriculum Training from Mindful Schools. She completed her 200-hr Yoga Teacher Training from Yoga Breeze in 2015 and 95-hr Children’s Yoga Teacher Training with a Trauma-Informed Focus from Yoga Ed. in 2021. Cheryl continues her own mindfulness training within the MBSR model.
