About Chewe Chilufya

I am the Deputy Registrar [Deputy CEO] of the Patents and Companies Registration Agency (PACRA). I supervise and coordinate the registration and protection of trademarks, industrial designs, copyright, and related rights, and the grant of patents in Zambia. I have close to 15 years of experience in intellectual property law and administration, and I am passionate about promoting innovation, creativity, and economic development through IP. I also serve as a member of the Anti-Money Laundering/Countering the Financing of Terrorism and Proliferation National Task Force, where I contribute to the formulation and implementation of policies and strategies to combat money laundering and terrorist financing in Zambia. I am also actively involved in beneficial ownership transparency work in Zambia. My practice and experience include corporate insolvency and business turnaround, corporate law, media law and alternative dispute resolution. I am an adjunct lecturer at the University of Lusaka, teaching courses in intellectual property and corporate law. I hold a Bachelor of Laws degree with honours from the University of London, a Master of Laws degree from the University of Zambia, and a Master's degree in Intellectual Property from Africa University. I am also a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and INSOL International.
