About Cheyanne Stones

I am a public health research and program manager. I am a cis, white, uninvited settler who has the privilege of living and working on the traditional territories of the Blackfoot Confederacy (Siksika, Kainai, Piikani), the Tsuut'ina, the Îyâxe Nakoda Nations, the Métis Nation (Region 3), and all people who make their homes in the Treaty 7 region of Southern Alberta. I am passionate about promoting health equity at all levels. I bring an expertise in mixed methods research management, from planning to managing the day-to-day operations of multi-site research projects. My work has focused on equity-oriented health care, which attends to cultural safety/anti-racism, trauma- and violence-informed care, and harm reduction/substance use health. Coordinating frontline research in emergency departments, I am skilled at mixed methods research, including survey design and implementation, qualitative interviewing, quantitative analysis, and data visualization. I am committed to bringing a decolonizing lens to both my work and everyday life. I work in solidarity with Indigenous Peoples to support an anti-racist approach to healthcare and social services. Recent highlights of my work include managing a 5-year mixed methods research project on promoting health equity for Indigenous and non-indigenous people experiencing marginalization in emergency departments, including data collection design, recruitment, data collection, coordinating with three research sites and health authorities, quantitative analysis, and academic writing, all while bring an equity lens.
