About Cheyenne Porter

My work background includes the following: I am currently a Neuro-Exercise Specialist developing rehabilitation exercise programs for those with spinal cord injury, stroke, cerebral palsy, traumatic brain injury, Parkinson’s disease, transverse myelitis and other neurological disabilities at the Center of Recovery and Exercise. I also have experience in patient rehabilitation in the areas of Neurological, Orthopedic, Sports, Integumentary, Cardiovascular, Women’s Health, Pediatric and Geriatric Physical Therapy. My bachelor’s degree in health sciences pre-clinical and my work experience has taught me about exercise testing, fitness assessment, prescription, anatomy, kinesiology and extensive familiarity with state of the art technology such as the RT200, RT300, RT600 and other activity based training techniques. I have also fulfilled the role as a medical caregiver, tutor, and water safety instructor for special populations. The South College Doctor of Physical Therapy program has developed me greatly as a student. The curriculum continues to impress previous supervisors, and physical therapists that I have spoken with. I found that South College is an ideal fit for me to begin my professional career due to the dedication to the development of health care practitioners through innovative, individualized and quality distance education. Through my work experience at the Center of Recovery and Exercise, as well as my education at South College, I have developed a compassionate, elevated approach and commitment to assisting people with neurological disabilities. While I have developed a high level of familiarity with this population, my strong background in water polo brings me back to the orthopedic population. I have become extremely passionate about learning about this setting and look forward to opportunities to do so.
