About Cheyenne Stone

As the Chairperson of the Big Pine Paiute Tribe, I am honored to represent and serve my community of Nüümü (Paiute) and rural community on the Big Pine Paiute Tribal Reservation. I have over ten years of combined experience in leading and managing tribal affairs, an array of experience overseeing budgets, and analyzing data to inform decision-making and policy development as well as infrastructure development for economic growth. My mission is to interweave tribal ecological knowledge and cultural stewardship with contemporary practices and innovations for tribal sovereignty. To increase access to agricultural land and food sustainability for my people. I’ve completed the NACo Certificate in Educational Leadership and Administration, which equipped me with the skills and knowledge to navigate the complex and dynamic challenges and opportunities facing leadership in Counties and Nationally. I have an array of experience in curriculum development in k-12 education, strategic planning, lobbying, business administration and advocacy in a multidisciplinary areas including environmental, housing, workforce development, healthcare, tribal and non-profit organizations. I am also a co-author of a book and a co-chair of a policy committee that advocates for the rights and interests of small scale framing and tribal food sovereignty. I welcome all input and feedback however my time is valuable. I look forward to collaborating with diverse stakeholders and partners to advance our shared goals.
