About Chiara Baez

Chiara is pursuing a Bachelor's degree in historic preservation and political science at the University of Mary Washington with an emphasis on museum studies. Her research focuses primarily on the impact of PAC campaign financing for primaries and its effect on the potency of traditional American political speech. Chiara has a background in working with history-based museums from the late American colonial period and in art gallery curation and care. Something she is passionate about is using historic preservation as a pathway for equity and inclusion for the disenfranchised, by deconstructing some of the barriers to cultural preservation through the provision of accessible resources and mindful policymaking. Chiara is also interested in her work to increase youth voter turnout in Virginia, the DMV, and beyond, alongside activism and collaboration with various nonprofits. She works tirelessly with civic engagement organizations to keep students informed on campuses across Virginia.
